Paula Deen Fired: Kmart, Sears & Walgreens Phasing Out Chef's Products Amid Racial Slur Scandal [VIDEO]
More of Paula Deen's endorsement deals and partnerships were terminated after her racial slur scandal, with Kmart, Sears and Walgreens joining the mix Friday.
A statement from Sears Holdings, which owns both Kmart and Sears, was released on Friday detailing the company's plan to remove Deen's cookware products from stores nationwide.
"After careful consideration of all available information, we have made the decision to phase out all products tied to the brand," the statement read. "We will continue to evaluate the situation. Our members' needs will be given first priority as we work to continue to provide quality cookware in our stores and online."
A spokesperson for Walgreens also confirmed Friday that they would be phasing out Deen's products.
QVC president Mike George released a letter on Thursday explaining their decision.
"We have decided to take a pause," George wrote. "Paula won't be appearing on any upcoming broadcasts and we will phase out her product assortment on our online sales channels over the next few months. We all think it's important, at this moment, for Paula to concentrate on responding to the allegations against her and on her path forward."
QVC initially said that they had "no immediate plans" to have Deen appear on the network but were still assessing the situation before making a decision.
George explained that this isn't a "forever decision," essentially saying that she won't be banned from QVC because "we don't think that's how relationships work. People deserve second chances. And we always strive to do the right thing." George revealed that QVC talked extensively with Deen before making the decision.
"She has always been gracious and supportive to every QVC team member she encountered," George said.
In addition to Sears, Kmart and Walgreens, Deen has also lost deals with Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Caesars Entertainment, Smithfield Foods, Food Network and diabetic drug maker Novo Nordisk. Despite the negativity swirling around her image, Deen has actually seen a huge increase in sales on Amazon for her cookbooks. Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up is currently No. 1 on the Amazon Bestseller List, though isn't slated to be released until Oct. 15. Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible is currently No. 2.
