Kelly Ripa's Bikini Photo Gets The Attention Of Body-Shaming Instagram Trolls
The body shamers are coming out of the woodwork after Kelly Ripa rocked a skimpy bikini while on vacation with husband, Mark Consuelos.
Trolls On Instagram
The Riverdale star only wanted to show off his 47-year-old wife as they enjoyed a blissful beach vacation, but social media users aren't letting the couple off unscathed. Instead, an onslaught of aggressive comments flooded Consuelos' post, most of the trolls resorting to body-shaming the Live with Kelly and Ryan host.
Some pointed out that her age makes certain swimsuits unsuitable for Ripa.
"Kelly's gorgeous, but isn't there a cutoff age where age-appropriateness comes into play?" one Instagram user commented snidely. "Just because you can rock a bikini, doesn't mean you should. When you have teenagers whose friends can google pictures, then it's creepy."
Others criticized her trim body, calling it unwomanly. "She's skinny and orange with a door knob belly button and you need to come out," another told Consuelos.
"She's like a boy with an orange spray tan. Flat chested."
"Cool," one commenter wrote, addressing Consuelos as well.
"Didn't know you were into little boys, but not totally surprising."
"She has the body of a 12-year-old boy. Guess 'sexy' is a matter of opinion," another added. Despite the negative backlash of the photo, more people had a positive reaction to it, heaping praise on Ripa's body. A number of fans also came to her defense on social media, slamming the trolls for criticizing her body and age.
Kelly Ripa On Trolling
Ripa hasn't commented on how she feels about the buzz her swimsuit photo generated on social media. However, she recently admitted on The Wendy Williams Show that she actually enjoys firing back at online trolls.
"'I love a troll but I love to troll a troll," Ripa explains, according to E! Online. "Like, if you're gonna troll me, then I'm gonna troll back. And that, we can all agree, that is the way God intended."
The host may also be used to critical and entirely unwelcome comments from anonymous social media users. Earlier this month, Ripa posted a throwback photo of her and her husband, and one comment was unnecessarily harsh on Consuelos' height.
"Too bad he's short when he tries to look taller," the since-deleted comment read, People reports. "It looks funny. Just be who you are."
The pair clapped back in good humor with Ripa, saying "He's tall where it counts, babe."
