Previously announced characters Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are rumored to have big parts to play in Joss Whedon's The Avengers 2, reports state.

The sibling duo are as yet uncast and Whedon has not been particularly forthcoming with details about their roles in the 2015 film.

However, the writer/director let a tidbit slip while talking to Crave Online at Wednesday night's Saturn Awards (where he won best science fiction film and best director for The Avengers).

"It's a huge part of the movie, I'm really excited about it," Whedon said of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's Marvel appearance.

One of Magneto's twin offspring is also scheduled to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past. While Evan Peters will portray Quicksilver for the Bryan Singer film, Whedon is not concerned what the other comic book franchise is working on.

"I don't know what they're doing. I'm determinedly not knowing," Whedon told Crave Online. "They'll do their thing and I have to do mine."

The director previously stated that he had his own reason for including the supernatural pair.

"They're interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn't necessarily agree with The Avengers," Whedon told IGN. "So they're not there to make things easier. I'm not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier."

As it stands now, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's shakeup of the already notoriously fragile Avenger's dynamic will fill a lot of plot space.
