Actress Cameron Diaz possibly confirms that she indeed retired from the film industry. If so, it might be safe to say she is enjoying every day of her new life.

Cameron Diaz On Being Retired

Diaz spoke on her retirement during an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Thursday, March 29. The star was joined by her The Sweetest Thing co-stars Selma Blair and Christina Applegate.

Interestingly enough, Diaz opened up about leaving Hollywood when the trio dished on having a reunion.

“Maybe I should, you know, I mean, I’m down,” said Diaz. “I’m literally doing nothing.”

She wasn’t the only actress in the conversation who has started backing away from Hollywood to focus on family. Applegate also revealed she’s “semi-retired.” She said her reason for not signing on to any films was so she could be hands-on with raising her children.

Diaz seemed to enjoy having someone on the same page as her.

“That’s so awesome. I’m totally down,” added Diaz. “I’m semi-retired too, and I am actually retired…”

She reiterated, however, that she wouldn’t mind reuniting with her co-stars from the 2002 film. The last time fans saw Diaz on the big screen was in 2014 in the remake of Annie. She starred in the successful movie alongside Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhanè Wallis.

Why She's Retired

As to why Diaz reportedly decided to retire, reports swirled that she wanted to spend more time with her husband Benji Madden, Good Charlotte singer and guitarist. Word is the couple wants to have more children.

One insider said Diaz preferred to focus on that instead of acting.

“At this point they would be very happy with the miracle of one child,” said an insider. “They aren’t really thinking past the first one at this point. They would love to have the chance to be parents.”

News of Diaz’s retirement sparked after Blair said she and Diaz were “reminiscing” about a movie together during lunch earlier this month. She said she told Diaz she wanted to do a follow-up of the movie, but Diaz said she was done.

After the news spread that Diaz planned on leaving the world of acting for good, Blair took to Twitter to clear up her statement. She said she was only joking and that Diaz never retired. She also joked herself that she no longer wanted to serve as Diaz’s representative.
