The idea for the collaboration started after fans began petitioning for it on a website called Change.org. The petition was later endorsed by the singer's brother, Rashad Haughton, her close friend, Missy Elliot, and former makeup artist Eric Ferrell. Now the collection will release in June.
Sadly, Aaliyah passed away on Aug. 25, 2001 after she finished recording the music video for her single, "Rock The Boat." The music legend was on board a flight along with members of her record company when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff.
Aaliyah's legacy continues to live on 17 years after her death.
