Man Attacks Car In Beverly Hills, Hurts Jaime King’s 4-Year-Old Son
Actress Jamie King found herself in a terrifying situation earlier this week. Her car was besieged by a violent stranger, while her young son was inside.
A Truly Bizarre Incident
King, who was in tears at the scene, wasn't in the vehicle when the incident occurred on Bedford Drive, in Los Angeles.
An unknown man began smashing the windows of her Mercedes Benz, with the actress's friend and her 4-year-old son, James Knight, trapped inside, while the car was parked curbside.
According to witnesses, he rode up on a skateboard and crawled onto the hood of the car. He jumped first onto the car and then on the rear windshield.
Glass smashed, some of it hitting King's son. When King's friend jumped out to confront the assailant, the man allegedly threw a can at her.
A Public Menace
Police received multiple 911 calls in relation to the man, who had reportedly been causing trouble in the area in general, prior to the incident.
According to Beverly Hills PD, the man, identified as 47-year-old Paul Francis Floyd, vandalized at least one other vehicle prior. He was arrested for felony child endangerment, felony vandalism, and misdemeanor battery, and is being held on $100,000 bail. Floyd is scheduled to appear in court April 6.
The Hart of Dixie actress has another son, Leo Thames, who's 32 months old, with husband Kyle Newman. Thankfully, neither Leo nor his father were in the car at the time.
Trying To Remain Calm
The police released a statement in relation to the incident, detailing what had occurred.
"[James] was secured in a child car seat positioned in the back seat of the vehicle as the suspect jumped on the rear windshield causing glass to shatter and strike the child," a police statement said.
The release also confirmed that King's friend had attempted to diffuse the situation by getting out of the car.
"In an effort to protect the child, the female driver exited the vehicle and confronted the suspect at which time he threw a can at her, striking her arm," it explained.
Beverly Hills PD confirmed that several reports of vehicle vandalism had come through in advance of King's, detailing a man kicking and jumping on vehicles, as well as throwing cans at passersby.
Floyd allegedly targeted another vehicle, with a male driver, while it was stopped at the apron of a driveway. He allegedly kicked the car, causing damage.
