Jay-Z Finally Ends His Beef With His 'Little Brother' Kanye West
Jay-Z and Kanye West fans don't have to choose a side anymore. Jay-Z has ended his longtime feud with his friend, West.
Jay-Z And Kanye Are Brothers Again
Jay-Z opened up about his friendship with West during his appearance on My Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. After Letterman asked about the current status of his relationship with West, Jay-z made it clear that they are just fine.
“That’s my brother,” said Jay-Z. “We’re beyond friends. Really, my little brother is Kanye. And like, [with] your little brother, things happen sometimes. It’s still your sibling forever, it’s my brother. We don’t come from the same mom and dad, but I watched Kanye from without an album.”
He added that he looks up to West because he stayed the same even after becoming famous. He went on to say that West is “brilliant.”
This isn’t the first time Jay-Z has spoken about his rollercoaster friendship with West. He also talked about their feud last November. While he still called West his “brother,” he noted that their relationship was “complicated.”
Jay-Z confessed that while he felt wronged by West, he knows he did things to hurt West as well. He said he hopes the two can look back at their feud in the near future and laugh about the time they didn’t speak to each another.
Where Did Their Bromance Go Wrong?
As for what caused their feud, West confirmed rumors of a beef during a rant against Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonce, during a concert back in October 2016. He started with Beyonce and said he was upset that she refused to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards unless she won the Video of the Year. She was up against West and Drake for the coveted award. He accused her of “playing the politics” against him.
He went on to speak about Jay-Z and said that too much time had passed since he talked to him. He urged Jay-Z to call him and “talk to [him] like a man.” West also said he was hurt that Jay-Z never called to check on him and his wife Kim Kardashian after the robbery in Paris. After his rant, West performed only four songs before wrapping up the show.
There was also speculation that West and Jay-Z’s friendship hit a rough patch after West and Kardashian started dating and then got married. Jay-Z and Beyonce opted out of attending West’s wedding and were spotted bicycling in The Hamptons.
