Still, Shelton’s ex-wife Miranda Lambert thanked fans after their public divorce.
Miranda Lambert Shows Fans Some Love
Lambert was the woman of the hour at the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. She had a special message for fans when she accepted the coveted Song of the Year award for her hit single "Tin Man."
“Thank you guys so much for sharing my broken heart with me,” said Lambert of the song she reportedly wrote after her split with Shelton.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time Lambert thanked fans for helping her get over her heartbreak. She echoed similar sentiments when had taken home the award for Album of the Year last year.
“I just want to say thank you for letting me use my heartbreak and sharing that with me,” said Lambert.
Her speech this year comes just weeks after her romance with Anderson East ended after two years. They went public with their relationship in 2015.
Before East, Lambert and her now ex-husband, Shelton, had been considered country music royalty before they shocked fans with their divorce. She moved on and dated East months later.
Can Miranda's Success Help Her Too?
Meanwhile, Shelton and Stefani, who are very open with their relationship, sat in the audience together as Lambert gave her speech. Word is Shelton and Lambert have made a point not to interact with one another amid rumors that they are becoming friends again.
As for Lambert, she had her record-breaking awards to keep her company. Along with Song of the Year, she also won Female Vocalist of the Year Sunday night. These awards bring her total number of ACMs to 32, the most any artist has ever won.
“I really can’t believe it,” Lambert said backstage. “I just always try to live in the moment I’m in and then make myself better and try to be better. I try to reinvent and try to be a better writer and a better singer and a better performer and better person all around. I guess, so I don’t dwell on the past.”
Still, Lambert also pointed out that no women were given a nod for Entertainer of the Year. She said she couldn’t grasp why she or country singing sensation Carrie Underwood wasn’t nominated for the category considering their major success. She vowed that while she’s not sure where the disconnect is, she’ll make strides to change it.
