'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Premiere: Clark Gregg Discusses Agent Coulson's Return and Past VIDEO
Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) supposedly died during The Avengers, the result of which brought together the disparate members of The Avengers in order to take down Loki and his Chitauri warriors.
However, Joss Whedon will seemingly resurrect the quirky agent for ABC's upcoming program Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. At the Saturn Awards, Gregg spoke with Collider regarding his miraculous return from the grave.
"I don't know much yet, I don't know if that's exactly how I would phrase what happens because I've only shot the pilot," Gregg said of his character's reanimation. "There are still going to be some questions after the pilot and some things will be answered."
Aside from wondering if Coulson was really dead at all, fans will also get a chance to discover the agent's back-story. While Coulson has depicted in an array of Marvel films and comic books, including a stint as Principal Coulson in Ultimate Spider-Man, Gregg is unsure how much of that will be carried over into the creation of this iteration of the character.
"[If] you read Battle Scars, the most recent comic book sequence, there's an...Army Ranger who gets into S.H.I.E.L.D [and] who has a nickname of 'Cheese.' I'm not sure if that's the same agent Coulson, parts of that carry over," Gregg told Collider. "So, like you, I have a lot to learn when I see the first couple of scripts of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was ordered as a series by ABC in May.
