More has surfaced about Nikki Bella’s shocking split with John Cena. The two announced their breakup after being together for six years.

An insider confirmed rumors that it was Bella who ended things with Cena just weeks before they were supposed to get married. Word is he hinted in more ways than one that he didn’t want to get hitched.
On Monday, a source told People that Cena has been making it "abundantly clear" how frustrated he feels about their impending nuptials.
Cena thinks he is "doing her a favor" by marrying her, they added.
“[Nikki] doesn’t need a pity proposal, a pity wedding, a pity husband” added the insider. “She’s a phenomenal, tremendous woman.”
The now exes announced on Sunday that they would not be tying the knot. Cena proposed to Bella a year ago at the major WrestleMania 33 event. Their destination wedding was set for May 5.
Did John Really Want To Get Married?
Interestingly enough, Cena had spoken out about getting married before he proposed. He made it clear that he had no interest in becoming a husband. The source added that considering Cena’s views on marriage and relationships, the reason he decided to propose to Bella is still a question that remains unanswered.
“It’s hard for anyone not to wonder why he did it, and did it in this hugely public way, in the literal arena where he is most popular,” continued the source. “He knew exactly what sort of response he would get by doing that.”
Still, there were signs that the two would not be together for the long run. Cena didn’t hold back while explaining the difficulties in being in a serious relationship, an insider added. He was also very vocal about not changing his lifestyle. It didn’t help that he often talked about his and Bella’s busy schedules and how hard it is to spend time together.
Signs Of A Split
Fans also saw the two disagree about having children together on E!’s hit reality shows Total Bellas and Total Divas. Bella made it clear that she wanted to be a mother one day and often said she felt incomplete without a child. While Cena seemed open to the idea of children recently, he often challenged Bella’s desire to be a mom and implied he did not want children.
Viewers could see more of their fallout when Total Bellas airs on E! on May 20 at 9 p.m. ET.
