Kris Kross Rapper Chris Kelly Death Officially Listed as Drug Overdose
Chris Kelly's official cause of death has been confirmed to be a drug overdoes, reports state.
Kellly was found in an unresponsive state in his Georgia home on May 1 and was later declared dead at a local hospital. At the time, Kelly's mother said he was using cocaine and heroine before his death, a claim supported by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office, according to The Associated Press.
However, Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office did not confirm which drugs were found in the 34-year-old rapper's system. TMZ reported that the office revealed Kelly had a "fatal mixture of drugs" in his system.
Kelly was one half of the '90s rap duo Kris Kross. Along with Chris Smith, Jermaine Dupri discovered Kelly as a teen and produced and wrote the duo's first hit Jump. The track was on Kris Kross's 1992 album Totally Krossed Out. Kelly, who also went by 'Mac Daddy,' and Smith, aka 'Daddy Mac,' performed on Michael Jackson's world tour in the 90s.
The last rap song Kelly made was recorded while he was intoxicated, just hours before his death, according to TMZ.
