Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Divorce: 'Mission Impossible' Actor Writes 'Emotional' Letter to His Ex-Wife, Source Says [REPORT]
One year after Katie Holmes abruptly filed for divorce, Tom Cruise has reportedly penned her a heartfelt letter.
A source told LOOK magazine: "I think it's something Tom's been thinking about a lot recently, but especially as July was approaching. It's like he's finally recognized that Katie will always be the love of his life."
"It was such a shock when she left him - although she would no doubt argue that he ignored the signs. I think Tom finally understands why she had to end things. It's taken a long time for him to let go of the anger, but it seems like he finally has and he obviously will have wanted to tell her that," the source added.
According to Cruise's pals, he wants to rekindle his friendship for the sake of their seven-year-old daughter Suri Cruise.
On June 29, 2012, five days before Tom Cruise's 50th birthday, Holmes, his wife of five years, filed for divorce, asking for primary legal and physical custody of their daughter.
Today, both Cruise and Holmes have settled into their newly single lives. A source recently told People magazine that Holmes has embraced her new home, New York, and life as a single mom.
"She is in her prime," the source reportedly said. "And truly enjoying the life she is creating for herself."
Holmes is currently filming the indie movie Mania Days in New York, while Cruise will be reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in the fifth Mission Impossible film, which is currently in pre-production.
Cruise and Holmes married in Italy in 2006. It was the first marriage for Holmes and the third marriage for Cruise, whose ex-wives include Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman.
