Alanis Morissette's Pixie Cut Makes Her Almost Unrecognizable
Alanis Morissette never stops evolving. The "Ironic" singer stepped out to show off a fresh new 'do that's makes her nearly unrecognizable.
Morissette Goes For Shorter Hairstyle
Morissette, 43, is known for her waist-length brunette waves, but she recently chopped most of it and now sports a pretty super-short pixie cut.
According to a report from E! News, the singer debuted her short hairstyle when she showed up to see Broadway play Dear Evan Hansen at New York's Music Box Theatre on Wednesday, April 18. Morissette was snapped backstage enjoying her fresh 'do.
During the event, Morissette also let her quirky style shine through in chained tinted glasses and a colorful purse accessorizing her cream-hued dress.
However, the musician's Instagram followers are already aware of her brand-new look, as she has been posting photos of her cropped hair on the social media site in the past few weeks. Her first photo that featured the pixie cut was in late March, dedicated to her love for writing.
Morissette is endlessly experimenting with her personal style and different looks from her trademark brown waves to surfer-chick blonde locks.
'Jagged Little Pill' Musical
Most of Morissette's photos are taken from behind the scenes of the upcoming musical inspired by her Grammy-winning album Jagged Little Pill, which has been in the works since 2013.
The singer's musical consists of an impressive collaboration among award-winning artists including Morissette, Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody, and Tony-winning director Diane Paulus. Vivek J. Tiwary, Arvind Ethan David, and Eva Price will produce.
The story will be focused on "a modern and multi-generational family and their complex dynamics, touching on issues of gender identity and race."
"This team that has come together for this Jagged Little Pill musical is my musical theater dream come true," Morissette says in a statement in People. "The chemistry between all of us is crackling and I feel honored to be diving into these songs again, surrounded by all of this searing talent. Diablo and Diane are already taking these deeply personal songs that are part of my soul's marrow to a whole other level of hope, freedom, and complexity."
"Hand in My Pocket," "You Oughta Know," and "Ironic" are among the hit songs that will be part of the musical. Other hits from Morissette's extensive discography will also be featured.
Paulus, who will be directing the stage adaptation of the album, says he's thrilled with the project and describes Morissette's music as instrumental in defining a generation.
Jagged Little Pill is onstage in Massachusetts in May.
