Compton rapper, and self-professed Blood gang member, The Game weighed in on the Aaron Hernandez story, telling TMZ that despite rumors that the former Patriots player has ties to the Bristol Bloods, Hernandez is not a member of the street gang.

As in a previous TMZ report, the tabloid referenced a tattoo on Hernandez's hand, which reads "Blood," as evidence of Hernandez's involvement in the gang. (The skin art actually reads "Blood, Sweat & Tears," but reports claim the last two words in the tattoo were added to conceal Hernandez's gang affiliation.)

"Aaron Hernandez popped his homie, it's a wrap," Game said. "Aaaron Hernandez aint no blood man, n***a killed his sister husband."

Game erroneously referred to Hernandez's alleged victim, Odin Lloyd, as the spouse of the former NFL player's sister, but most reports state that Lloyd was actually dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancé, Shayanna Jenkins.

Game seemed to make the comments in jest, while he was surrounded by his entourage on a Los Angeles street. The rapper has professed his allegiance to his hometown Blood gang in several of his songs and routinely wears red clothing, a color associated with the street crew. His older half brother George Taylor III, also known as Big Fase 1000, was allegedly the leader of Compton's Cedar Block Piru Bloods.

TMZ released a photo of an alleged 17-year-old Hernandez, which features the tight end dressed in red clothing and flashing a gang sign that is reportedly common with the Bristol Bloods. The gang's turf is reportedly the accused murderer's hometown of Bristol, Connecticut.

Hernandez was attempting to distance himself from his gang-affiliated past, in light of his prosperous $40 million contract with the Patriots, according to reports. But it was difficult, according to TMZ's sources. Gang members allegedly believed Hernandez was indebted to them and didn't just want money, but also his time and respect. Hernandez reportedly became fearful that he was a marked man, in the months leading up to the death of Odin Lloyd, who he is charged with murdering.
