Tristan Thompson Files Trademark In Move To Start Athletic Apparel Line
Beleaguered father and basketball played Tristan Thompson is taking steps to get his professional life in order. The NBA star is building a new brand.
Repairing His Tarnished Brand
Thompson's personal life may be in shambles, following widespread reports he cheated on baby mama Khloe Kardashian, but at least he can focus on work. The Cleveland Cavaliers player has reportedly filed a trademark for a stylized letter T, according to legal documents obtained by E! News.
"Athletic apparel, namely, shirts, pants, jackets, footwear, hats and caps being headware, athletic uniforms," are what Thompson filed a trademark for on April 23.
It makes sense that he wouldn't use his full name, given the recent cheating allegations made against him in the media. Footage emerged online right before Kardashian gave birth to daughter True Thompson, purporting to show Thompson in romantic trysts with at least two other women.
This isn't Thompson's first attempt at a trademark either, as around this time last year, he filed for a slightly different logo, but nothing came of that application.
Taking It From All Sides
The NBA star returned to social media over the weekend, breaking his silence since the allegations were made against him. He took to Instagram to share a photo of him on the basketball court.
"WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE IN THE Q!! GREAT WIN #OnToTheNextOne," he wrote alongside it, referencing his team's win over the Pacers.
The post was in stark contrast to the reception Thompson received at a Monday night game in Toronto. Fans booed the player, who is originally from Brampton, Ontario, throughout the game. Members of the crowd could also be heard chanting "Khloe!" at specific moments.
When the Cavaliers played the New York Knicks a couple weeks ago, fans also booed Thompson.
A Sad Situation
Kim Kardashian West, who recently unfollowed Thompson on social media, spoke briefly about the situation about the NBA star and her sister during a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week.
The mother-of-three described the situation as sad and messed up, but explained that she didn't want to say anything that True might see years from now and be upset about.
Speculation has been rife that Kardashian was preparing to leave Thompson, and his Cleveland home, where she's been holed up in ever since the birth of her daughter.
Sources offered contrasting info about what's going on with the couple, but the latest news seems to suggest there's still hope.
"[Khloe] has one foot out the door but is also holding on to the fact that her and Tristan can make it work. She hasn't given up on him yet, but also hasn't really been focusing on their relationship. When they see each other, it is all about the baby and parenting together," an insider claimed.
Kardashian's feelings for Thompson reportedly re-emerged after watching him become a father, but right now she's focusing on True, whom she is madly in love with.
