Ryan Reynolds Reveals Fox Forced Him To Cut A 'Deadpool 2' Joke About Disney
Deadpool may get away with his jokes easily, but Ryan Reynolds admits there's one that Fox didn't let out in the sequel of the film, and that is about Disney.
While Deadpool is known for his acerbic quips, the actor playing the red-clad unusual superhero reveals that there is something that will not see light on the upcoming second film of the comical savior. Reynolds's revelation is surprising, because the Merc with a Mouth has been known to say whatever he wants to say anytime.
But Reynolds and Deadpool have a match, and it's Fox, who is the studio in charge of the upcoming film. In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, the 41-year-old explained that one joke was cut from the movie, particularly because Fox coerced him to remove the scene.
"It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision," Reynolds explained.
He said there was a "sore spot" in him because of what Fox instructed him to do, but what the company did was pretty understandable. Reynolds agreed, too, that it was the right thing to do. But of his revelation, he might have an idea that he could be in hot waters for it.
Fox-Disney Deal
Of course, the Disney joke might have affected a merger deal between Fox and Disney that started in December. Rumors have it that the deal will be finalized by 2019. It is not clear what kind of joke Reynolds made, but it must be something that could put on hold the acquisition.
However, with one Disney joke out of the window, another one was retained, and it's about Frozen. Die-hard fans of Deadpool can remember that the hero also made a joke about the animated film during the first movie.
Another joke that made it to the final cut of Deadpool 2 is the one about the Avengers: Infinity War, wherein the titular character referred to Josh Brolin as Thanos. The actor plays Cable in the David Leitch-directed film.
Reynolds also pens the scripts with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. That said, the Disney joke might have been his. The prominent actor has been known to have a rich sense of humor.
Indeed, the public had been aware of this, as Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, has been casually airing their comical banters in social media. Of late, the Gossip Girl alum roasted her husband by praising her hairstyle even though the photo fully showed her husband.
