Alec Baldwin expressed his desire to quit acting and Twitter in a Wednesday interview with Vanity Fair.

When asked about whether or not he was quitting acting, the 30 Rock actor replied, "I'd love to if I could, yeah. That would be the greatest thing in the world." He added that as long as he found "something else to do" he would end his 33-year acting career.

The 50-year-old actor recently deleted his Twitter account after unleashing a rant on his account about a Daily Mail article that discussed his pregnant wife Hilaria Baldwin tweeting during actor James Gandolfini's funeral. He told the magazine that he wasn't going to activate his account ever again, citing the funeral as a moment of clarity for him.

"I went to Jimmy Gandolfini's funeral, and when I was there I realized [he] didn't have Twitter," Alec said. "Jimmy Gandolfini was so beloved as a person, and he was so admired as an actor, and he didn't give a f--- about social media."

Alec added that he "learned a lesson" at the funeral: that Twitter was "all a waste of time." He admitted that while it's fun sometimes, he found himself enjoying it less and less as time passed.

"It's just another chink in your armor for people to come and kill you," he said. "I stopped and said to myself, 'I'm going to try where I just don't do this anymore.'"

He also said it would be nice to one day have his future daughter ask him if it's true that he used to be on television.

"That would be heaven for me," he admitted.

Baldwin ended his run as Jack Donaghy in the seven-season NBC sitcom 30 Rock in January. He won two Emmys, three Golden Globes and seven SAG awards for his role on the show. He will be seen in the upcoming Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine, which comes out in theaters July 26.
