Scarlett Johansson shot down rumors that she auditioned to be Tom Cruise's wife. The Avengers: Infinity War star is none too pleased about the allegations.

Preparing For Tom Cruise's Arrival

On Wednesday, while appearing on NBC's Megyn Kelly Today show, former Scientologist Brendan Tighe had plenty to say about his time with the notorious religious group in general and famous member Tom Cruise in particular.

Among other bizarre revelations, Tighe advised that each time the Mission Impossible star showed up, everybody had to get their teeth whitened.

This applied to church members and general staff alike, of which Tighe was one, having worked as a security guard before quitting the church six years ago.

"If you were part of anything to do with his service or entourage, you had to be seen by the dentist," he claimed.

Tighe's work, he alleges, put him in direct contact with celebrity churchgoers, including Cruise and fellow actor John Travolta.

Luck Be A Lady

As a result, he was apparently privy to certain details, including when actresses were auditioned to date Cruise following his very public split from then-wife Nicole Kidman.

Among the famous women chosen to be Cruise's partner, Tighe claims, was one Scarlett Johansson. He discovered this as a result of reports being accidentally sent to his printer.

According to the ex-Scientology member, he remembers Johansson's name is on there because it was the only one he recognized at the time.

"Another actress, Erika Christensen, had to disconnect from Scarlett Johansson because it didn't go well. That was in that report," he advised.

No Truth To It

Rather than ignoring his claims, the Avengers star released a statement to THR denouncing Tighe.

"The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning. I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships. Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that," Johansson said in the statement.

The Church itself also denounced Tighe's claims. Karin Pouw, a representative, informed Kelly that Tighe was lying about the amount of access he had and couldn't possibly have known what he claims to know.

Although it might sound crazy, Tighe's suggestion that ladies were auditioned to date Cruise is nothing new. Back in 2012, Vanity Fair published an explosive article claiming members of the church did exactly that in order to find Cruise a suitable mate.

One particular woman, actress Nazanin Bonjadi, was successful and indeed dated Cruise from November 2004 to January 2005. His ex-wife Katie Holmes has also been accused of ending up with the Mission Impossible actor via this route.

Johansson, meanwhile, recently went public with a man she chose all by herself— SNL star Colin Jost. The two enjoyed their first red carpet appearance at the recent premiere for Johansson's world-conquering superhero team-up film Avengers: Infinity War.
