Actress Linda Hunt is involved in a car accident in Los Angeles. The Oscar-winning star of NCIS: Los Angeles was hospitalized following the event.
No Major Injuries Sustained
The incident occurred on Monday, July 2 in Beverly Hills. Hunt confirmed in a statement to ET the following day that she is recovering well and has not suffered any serious injuries as a result.
"Yesterday I was involved in a minor traffic accident and taken to the hospital. I'm pleased to report I'm recovering well and have no serious injuries. Thank you for all the well wishes!" advised Hunt.
The esteemed actress plays fan favorite character Hetty in NCIS: Los Angeles. She noted in her statement that she is looking forward to production resuming on the hit CBS show later this summer.
At Least One Person Was Injured
A spokesperson for the local fire department confirmed that a 911 call had been logged just before 3 p.m. They arrived at the scene, at 7800 Fountain Avenue and Orange Grove Avenue, shortly thereafter.
The spokesperson added that at least one of the parties involved was taken to the hospital as a result of the incident.
"Our crews transported at least one person who was ill or injured and they were taken to an area hospital. The LAPD was notified to investigate," they noted.
Three Car Collision
According to TMZ, 73-year-Hunt was driving a black BMW SUV at the time of the incident. While trying to make a left turn, she struck a sedan, before colliding with a Honda SUV.
The Oscar-winner was visibly shaken, recovering in the immediate aftermath on a lawn chair on the sidewalk, according to witnesses. She was taken to hospital following a paramedic evaluation. The other drivers involved in the crash reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Hunt is most well known for playing Operations Manager Henrietta "Hetty" Lange on NCIS: Los Angeles. She has appeared in over 200 episodes to date, ever since its premiere back in 2009.
Her role in the movie The Year of Living Dangerously netted her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar back in 1984. She was the first person to win an Oscar for portraying a character of the opposite sex. In the film, she played Billy Kwan. She also voiced Grandmother Willow in Disney cartoon classic Pocahontas.
The NCIS franchise has been in the news lately following the departure of another series regular, Pauley Perrette, who walked away in the wake of abuse allegations against a co-star. Perrette starred as Abby Scuitto on the flagship show, while Hunt starred in one of its spinoffs.
