Although Joss Whedon has not announced a definitive villain for his Avengers 2, Sam Rockwell recently said he wouldn't mind another turn as Justin Hammer.

Rockwell appeared in the 2010 Favreau directed Iron Man 2. As Tony Stark's defense contract rival, Hammer survived the film and could be a plausible baddie for the second Avengers installment.

"I was hoping to come back in one of the Avengers films and come after Gwyneth Paltrow, because that's what they set up, that I was going to get revenge on Gwyneth for getting me arrested or something," Rockwell told Vulture. "I could do a Cape Fear thing with Gwyneth."

However, Hammer probably couldn't muster the power to become a major threat to the members of the Avengers, considering he was supported in his evil works by Ivan Vanko during Iron Man 2. If Whedon were to bring the Masters of Evil into the mix for Avengers 2, as the Examiner suggests, he could be viable as a member of the villain super group.

"But they've got a lot of mojo in there already, so I don't know if they need another pirate like me in the mix there," Rockwell said, according to Vulture. "Maybe S.H.I.E.L.D. is the way to go."

Perhaps viewers will get a glance of Hammer in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
