Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial in Seminole County, Fl. did not occur on Thursday due to the Fourth of July holiday.

Prosecution expects to wrap its side of the case on Friday. Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, testified on the witness stand when the trial began at 8:30 a.m. on July 5. She was cross-examined by defense attorney Mark O'Mara, according to ABC News.

Martin's older brother, Jaharvis Fulton, 22, was called to the witness stand shortly after and was also cross-examined by O'Mara.

Jaharvis, a Florida International Univerity student, was asked about recognizing his younger brother's voice by an unidentified reporter. The defense then asked that an audio recording of Jaharvis telling a news reporter he was not sure if it was Martin's voice in Zimmerman's 911 non-emergency call be played in the court. Judge Debra Nelson approved and had the jury be removed before it was played in the courtroom.

In the recording, a reporter asks Jaharvis who he heard in the Zimmerman's 911 non-emergency call when it was first played for him in the mayor's office in February 2012. Jaharvis says in the audio, "I'm not sure. Honestly, I haven't even listened to it that good. I've heard it. I would think it was my brother, but I am not completely positive that it is him."

The defense then asked that Jaharvis be impeached (removed) from the trial and that it be played for jurors. Judge Nelson denied the request, according to HLNTV.

Prosecutors are also expected to bring in the medical examiner that performed the autopsy on Martin's body to testify about their findings before the state rests its case on Friday.

Zimmerman is facing second-degree murder charges in the trial, which began on June 24. Zimmerman wasn't arrested, initially, which sparked protests around the country. The chief of Sanford's police department resigned amid the backlash. Zimmerman was eventually arrested and charged 44 days after the shooting on April 11, 2012.
