James Van Der Beek Devastated Over Wife's Miscarriage, Baby Was A Boy
On the "Dancing With The Stars" episode on Monday night, James Van Der Beek shared a heartbreaking news that sent the viewers in tears.
James' wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, suffered a miscarriage. The couple lost their supposedly sixth child.
While Kimberly has had four miscarriages before, it has never happened this late into pregnancy. She was expected to give birth to a baby boy in April 2020.
"My wife Kimberly and I went through every expecting parent's worst nightmare. We lost the baby. The little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond," James sadly announced.
"You never know why these things happen, that's what I've been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together, it breaks you open, it opens up your heart, it deepens your appreciation," he said. "It makes you more human."
Devastating Day
Kimberly also broke her silence and spoke about the tragic incident that happened over the weekend.
In a video that she posted on her official Instagram page, Kimberly expressed her heartfelt appreciation to friends, family, and supporters following the news about her miscarriage. Kimberly also said that she almost lost her life, though she did not give further details on her ordeal and the heartbreaking incident.
On the other hand, James also took it to Instagram to openly talk about how both of them are feeling. He said that there are no words to express the pain, but he thanked the people who have reached out to him and his wife.
Another Heartbreaker
On Monday's episode of "Dancing With The Stars," James dedicated his dance to his wife, saying, "I'm dancing for us, so here we go, babe."
Unfortunately, later that night, the "Dawson's Creek" star got eliminated in the show -- one week shy of the grand finale.
Ally Brooke attempted to save him by offering to give her spot to James, but she failed. It was another sad news for James, who was looking positive regardless of what happened.
"At a time like this, it is enough that we know that you are there. Grieving AND counting our blessings today," James wrote further on his IG post.
