Whether Kate Middleton gives birth to a little boy or girl, the baby will have a royal title.

With the pregnant Duchess' due date just days away, Buckingham Palace announced Sunday that Middleton and Prince William's first child will be named His or Her Royal Highness the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

"The royal couple's child will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness the Prince or Princess of Cambridge," a palace spokesman said.

The spokesman noted that if Middleton and Prince William have any other children, the kids will also have the same title.

According to the Daily Mail, The Mayor of Cambridge, Paul Saunders said the royal baby's title is a "great honour" for the historical city.

"It is a great honour and I'm sure the people of Cambridge will appreciate it greatly," Saunders said.

"I think it's lovely to continue the close link with the Royal family," he added. "I think anything which helps to keep Cambridge in the public eye is a good thing as we rely on tourism."

Cambridge's former mayor, Sheila Stewart, said that she believes there's never been a prince or princess of Cambridge, but the town has had some dukes.

"When we did a lot of research after it was first announced that the couple were to get the title, nothing like that was found," Stewart said. "It can only be good news for Cambridge. Everyone is so excited about it. The whole country is waiting for the birth."

While the world awaits the little princess or prince, sources said Middleton's parenting style will be similar to the late Princess Diana: she will allow her children to have normal lives.

"Diana was always very keen on William and Harry knowing the world around them," she added. "She took them to McDonald's; she took them to the movies; they went to theme parks and homeless shelters...Yes, they were born into a very privileged background, but Diana made sure they knew they lived in a privileged background that wasn't normal and knew how other people lived," a source said.

Middleton will reportedly give birth on or around Saturday, July 13.
