50 Cent Twitter Silence After MLB Drops 'We Up' Rapper From All-Star Bash
50 cent's alleged domestic abuse is impacting the rapper's business, although he has not been found guilty of the crime. Still, the rapper was dropped from the lineup of artists set to perform at MLB's All-Star Bash in New York City, according to TMZ.
50, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is accused of kicking the mother of his child, Daphne Joy, during an argument at her Los Angeles home. As a result of the incident, Jackson's scheduled performance at the MLB party on July 14th has been canceled. 50's name originally appeared on the event's Facebook page but has since been removed and replaced with "two surprise performances," according to TMZ.com
Neither the MLB nor 50 has released an official statement, regarding the decision to drop the rapper from the event. The rapper did tweet photos of himself on Friday to debunk rumors that he had been arrested for the demostic violence charge.
The 37-year-old is facing one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism for the incident involving Joy. The couple has been dating for several years and Joy's priority is to protect herself and her child, while her dispute with her one-time boyfriend is being resolved, according to a statement from the law firm that represents Joy.
Jackson's former girlfriend claims that during an argument he destroyed property in her apartment and kicked her in the process. Though Jackson denied the allegations through his lawyer, Scott Leemon, authorities claim the Jamaica, Queens native caused $7,100 in damages to Joy's property and then left the scene before police arrived.
The Los Angeles City's prosecutor's office said police found a broken chandelier and damaged furniture throughout Joy's condo as well as a broken television and lamp.
50's arraignment date is set for July 22 at Van Nuys Superior Court.
He could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison and $46,000 in fines if he's found guilty on all charges.
