Prince Andrew Twitter Name: Becomes the First Royal to Tweet with His Own Account
Prince Andrew joined Twitter Monday.
Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II of England, signed up to the micro-blogging social media service and used the name @TheDukeOfYork.
"Welcome to my Twitter account - AY," he wrote via @TheDukeOfYork.
Within hours of his Twitter debut, he received over 10,000 followers. As of Tuesday morning, he gained more than 20,000 followers.
Andrew, the 53-year-old father of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, is the first Royal Family member to tweet under his own account, signing "AY" on his messages.
He only follows 79 users, with the majority of organizations he supports. MSN noted that Andrew is yet to follow his ex-wife, Sarah Duchess of York, whose Twitter handle is @SarahTheDuchess.
Meanwhile, Andrew's older brother, Prince Charles, is preparing to welcome his first grandchild in a few days.
Enstars reported yesterday that the Buckingham Palace announced Kate Middleton and Prince William's first child will bear the titles His or Her Royal Highness, the Prince or Princess of Cambridge.
"The royal couple's child will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness, the Prince or Princess of Cambridge," a palace spokesman said.
The spokesman noted that if Middleton and Prince William have any other children, the kids would also have the same title.
The Mayor of Cambridge, Paul Saunders, said the royal baby's title is a "great honour" for the historical city.
"I think it's lovely to continue the close link with the Royal family," he added. "I think anything which helps to keep Cambridge in the public eye is a good thing as we rely on tourism."
Middleton will give birth in the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's hospital.
HollywoodLife.com reported that an armed police officer will appear on the steps of the hospital, which will be the first official sign that the royal baby is on its way.
