The CW's Vampire Diaries continues to gear up for its highly coveted fifth season, which will be kicking off in the fall.

According to Zap2it, actress Arielle Kebbel, who plays Lexi on the TV series, has a strong feeling that her character will be making her return to Mystic Falls.

"The exciting thing about Lexi is that you never know when she's going to pop up, but she absolutely can. And most likely will," she said.

To top it off, Kebbel acknowledged that her and the creative brass have also spoke about the possibility of Lexi gracing the set of the program's spin-off series, The Originals.

"We've had some talk [about The Originals], but that's unchartered territory, so they're still figuring out how they want to handle that," she added.

The actress also took the time to give kudos to the VD loyalists, and how they've played a part in the return of her character.

"It's important for me to let fans know that they have truly helped me keep Lexi alive. I love the character deeply, and [executive producer] Julie Plec loves the character, and we are doing the best we can to continue keeping her alive," Kebbel said.

The CW's Vampire Diaries is slated to kick off its fifth season on Thursday, October 10. Its spin-off series, The Originals, is set to launch its first season on Tuesday, October 15.
