'Avengers 2' Movie News: Joss Whedon to Split Time Between 'Avengers' and 'S.H.I.E.L.D.'
Joss Whedon has become a staple in the Marvel world and the writer/director is now working in juggling Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and The Avengers 2.
While Whedon is busy orchestrating the plot of the next Avengers film he is also overseeing the entirety of Marvel's Phase Two plots to ensure they tie in with the culminating film. However, Whedon will have co-creators Marurissa Tancharoen and his brother Jed Whedon - both of whom partnered with Whedon on Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - to help him with the new TV program.
"We definitely try very hard to take what he started in the writing and directing of the pilot episode, and he will be there to guide us indefinitely," said actress Ming-Na Wen of S.H.I.E.L.D, according to SFX. "He's got an office in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' building so he'll be there. But we're also in really good hands with his brother Jed and Maurissa, and our team, they're amazing."
The new series is set to feature a revived Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and focus on the human side of the superhero story.
"I think for the die hard fans who know Joss Whedon's work as well as the Marvel series and all the movies, I think the will have a certain expectation which we will be able to deliver as far as sense of humor, as far as the camaraderie of the characters and the action," Wen told SFX.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will be featured on ABC sometime next season while The Avengers 2 is set for release in 2015.
