Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Relationship & His Behavior Talked About By Mom Pattie Mallette on 'The View' [VIDEO]
Justin Bieber's mother Pattie Mallette stopped by The View on Wednesday to promote her book, but the discussion also turned to her son's recent behavior and relationship status with Selena Gomez.
Mallette, the author of Nowhere But Up, said the 19-year-old wanted independence last year and as a typical parent, she of course worries about the trouble he gets involved in. Aside from the singer's wild antics, including video footage of him peeing in a mop bucket, he was involved in lawsuits for speeding in his neighborhood and assaulting a photographer.
Mallette spoke on the talk show Wednesday about how she tries to advise Bieber, while defending her son against reports that make him look bad. In the process, she admitted that she is not always in agreement with his actions.
"When he turned 18, he wanted some space ... I think that all parents worry about their kids," she said. "I don't necessarily agree with everything that he does. He knows the things -- we talk. We talk about things. ... I'm also super proud of him, a lot of things he does that don't make the headlines everyday."

The mother and son talk about "some of the things" that made headlines, Mallette said. However, she would not reveal the topics of discussion, saying they are something that remain private between her and her son. She also explained what she tells Bieber to help him grow from the hardships he faces.
"I try to encourage him to stay true to who he is and stay grounded and humble. I just always encourage him and say, 'You've always had to learn the hard way, but you'll get there and I believe in you.' And I have to keep believing that he'll come out on top."
As for his on-again, off-again relationship with Gomez, Mallette said that whether they are together or not "depends on what day it is."
As part of the promotional tour for her book, Mallette visited Fox & Friends on Tuesday and TODAY on Monday.
