'Bates Motel' Season 2 Spoilers: Norma's Brother Caleb Introduced in 2014? [VIDEO]
A few details have leaked about Bates Motel's second season, including details about the new characters.
When the new season picks up, the audience will be introduced to Caleb, the estranged brother of Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga), SpoilerTV reported. Caleb is the brother that Norma described in the season 1 finale as forcing her to have an incestuous relationship with him in the past.
Additionally, season 2 will see the introduction of a woman named Christine who eventually becomes friends with Norma. According to the report, Christine will become the only real female friend Norma has ever had.
The report seems to confirm Bates Motel executive producer Carlton Cuse's admission in late May that they would be introducing more of Norma's family in the upcoming season. Farmiga added at the time that she was excited to be meeting one particular member of Norma's family, which is likely Caleb.
In other Bates Motel news, the show's cast and crew will be on a panel at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 20. Farmiga will be on the panel alongside fellow cast members Freddie Highmore (Norman Bates), Max Thieriot (Dylan), Olivia Cooke (Emma) and Nestor Carbonell (Sheriff Alex Romero). Cuse and executive producer Kerry Ehrin will also be on hand to discuss the show. The official Comic-Con description says that fans will be able to hear exclusive details about season 2. The panel will be 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on July 20 at the San Diego convention in Room 6A.
Pieces are slowly starting to come together about season 2 of the A&E show. Enstars previously reported that Norma will find romance in the new season, which is sure to make things even more complicated with her brother.
"She sure needs [romance]," Farmiga told TVGuide in May. "Her neediness gives her an urgent desire to touch and kiss Norman, and that need should probably be filled by someone other than her son."
As far as Norman, the troubled teen will be dealing with the aftermath of murdering Miss Watson. Highmore told Entertainment Weekly in June that Norman may not even remember killing her, despite everyone suspecting that he did.
Bates Motel will air its second season in 2014, though a specific date has not been set yet.
