Demi Lovato Accidentally Slams BFF Kim Kardashian: Just 'Make a Sex Tape' To Get Famous, 'Heart Attack' Singer Says
Demi Lovato has advice for anyone who wants to be famous.
"When people say, 'I want to be famous - I want to be a star,' you have to ask: 'What are your intentions? If you just want to be famous, make a sex tape,' she reportedly told The Guardian in an interview published on Thursday.
Lovato also explained what she would tell her own daughter if she desired to be famous at the age of 15.
"So what I'd say is, if you're doing it because you want to be a respected actress or musician, follow your dream. If you just want paparazzi following you, rethink what's going on in your little head. It's crazy how people confuse the two nowadays," she said.
The current X Factor judge's comment unintentionally threw one of her best friends under the bus: Kim Kardashian.
The reality star rose to fame in 2007 after her sex tape with ex-boyfriend and singer Ray J was released. The release led to her reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians on E! and her superstar status followed shortly after.
Still, Lovato had explained to E Online back in 2011 how much her friendship with Kardashian means to her. She revealed that the 32-year-old was one of the only people there for her during her stint in rehab.
"The people that were calling me while I was in there were Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez. Those two girls, they meant the world to me. They still do," she said.
In an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest a year later, she also spoke of Kardashian's presence during that difficult time in her life.
"She was there for me when not many people were. I could not count on my hands how many people were there for me. So the people who were, I didn't' forget it," she said.
