Zimmerman Trial, Nicki Minaj Twitter Rant: 'High School' Rapper Calls Accused 'Trigger Happy '
Nicki Minaj has never been one to hold her tongue, and true to her form, the female emcee took to her Twitter page to lash out at George Zimmerman and his defense team in the Trayvon Martin shooting case.
As a jury deliberates George Zimmerman's faith in his second-degree murder trial for his involvement in the death of 17-year-old Martin, Minaj shared her opinions on the case, aiming some scathing words at the accused.
"#JusticeForTrayvon & when they put that ass in jail, u BETTER be in general population. Should be PRE-MEDITATED MURDER #TRIGGERHAPPY A**HOLE," Minaj tweeted on Friday.
After two weeks of court proceedings, the prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments, over the last two days, and now the jury decides whether Zimmerman faces potential life in prison or walks away a free man. Minaj, for one, doesn't believe Zimmerman's lawyer, Mark O'Mara, made a sound case for his client.
"O'MARA would like us to do away with #commonsense for this trial. 911: DON'T FOLLOW HIM. MAN FOLLOWS AND KILLS ANYWAY. HMMM. #selfdefense?" the rapper also tweeted, referring to the 911 operator who told Zimmerman not to follow Martin.
The Young Money rapper expressed her anger towards Zimmerman even before the court case began on June 24.
"If that man were black they'd bring out the electric chair for him," Minaj said during an interview with Funkmaster Flex, roughly a month after Martin was killed on Feb. 26, 2012.
The rapper, who grew up in Southside Jamaica, Queens, expressed dismay that Zimmerman wasn't even arraigned at the time.
"It's heart-wrenching to know some mother is home crying her eyes out, someone's whole family has to bury a child for absolutely nothing," Minaj told Flex later in the interview. "And I, up until just a few minutes ago, thought that the murderer was convicted and I just found out he wasn't even charged."
