Prince William reportedly rushed back home to London after fulfilling his commitment at a charity polo match on July 13 so that he could be beside his pregnant wife who is due to give birth any day now, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

The duke of Cambridge, 31, previously committed to participate in a polo match for charity at the Kent & Curwen Royal Polo Cup in Sydmonton, England, according to Hollywood Life. The match was held on the same day as Middeton's due date. He attended the sporting event with brother, Prince Harry and the game ended with Harry's team defeating William's, 4-3.

Sydmonton is a little over 60 miles away from London and as soon as the game was over, Prince William reportedly left the event and be back home with his wife at Kensington Palace in London.

Middleton, 31, can give birth any moment but Prince William has responsibilities and appearances to uphold as a royal. He is slated to compete in another polo match on Sunday in support of WellChild, Centrepoint, and Child Bereavement UK in Gloucestershire, England. Gloucestershire is 94 miles away from London, according to the report.

“Yes, if he is able to,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson told the website. “The Duke hopes to play polo on Sunday [July 14].”

When the little prince or princess is born, an announcement will be made to the public and a notice placed on the gates of Buckingham palace will reveal the baby's gender to the public. Paparazzi have been camping outside of St. Mary's Hospital for days now, waiting for the moment will Middleton will arrive and also when she will leave the hospital with her first child.

The royal couple married in 2011. Their child, whether boy or girl, could be monarch one day since he or she is the firstborn to the prince, who is second to the throne after his father Prince Charles. The child will be behind Prince William in the line of succession.
