Kate Middleton Pregnancy & Baby News: Duchess of Cambridge Moves to Parent's Home Farther From Hospital
As she awaits going into labor with her first child, pregnant Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton moved into her parents' home in Bucklebury that is almost an hour away from where she is due to give birth, Hollywood Life reported Monday.
The 31-year-old royal left behind her Nottingham Cottage home on the grounds of Kensington Palace to move into her parents' mansion. Her parents live about 50 miles away from St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, where she is due to give birth. In comparison, Nottingham Cottage - her two-bedroom home with Prince William - is across town from the hospital.
Police cars were spotted outside the Middleton mansion in case the pregnant royal needs to be rushed back to St. Mary's Hospital. Security and drivers are on call and paparazzi photographers have been camping outside of the hospital for days, waiting for the duchess to made an appearance.
"Being back at home in Bucklebury is the one place where Kate can truly relax, especially with all the building work going on at Kensington Palace," a royal insider reportedly told the Sunday Express. "She knows her mum will take good care of her and William can also rest assured that she's in safe hands. Kate is very family orientated so it is only natural that she would want to spend as much time as possible with her parents before the baby arrives."
Middleton's due date was July 12. She will spend the first six weeks after leaving the hospital at her parent's home and will not hire a maternity nurse, according to Daily Mail.
Prince William competed at polo matches on July 13 and 14. Though he was not by his wife's side days after her due date, a friend said the duke of Cambridge cannot wait to be a father.
"He's very excited and very happy to have the chance to be a dad," Danielle Alexandra, a friend of Prince William's, told Us Weekly over the weekend. "He's anticipating it with tremendous excitement. He's one of the most loving people you will ever meet, so he's the perfect guy to be a dad."
