Jay-Z revealed that he and Kanye West once had a four day feud over songs that appear on Magna Carta Holy Grail. According to the Big Pimpin rapper, West wanted two of the tracks to appear on their collaboration album, 2011's Watch The Throne.

Jay-Z revealed his brief beef with West during an interview with BBC Radio 1. The father of one told Zane Lowe, the show's host, that he and West agreed in advance that they would both release solo albums after they released Watch The Throne. However, after West heard two tracks for Jay's next solo project--namely, Holy Grail and Oceans--West demanded that the two songs, instead, appear on ther joint project.

"Soon as I thought we had wrapped up Watch The Throne, I made two records - I had Holy Grail and Oceans," Jay told Lowe in the interview that aired on Monday. "[There were] no lyrics on Holy Grail and I recorded Oceans and I played those records for Kanye."

Jay-Z then revealed that the pair's disagreement went on for several days and their heated discussions eventually became physical.

"[West] was like, 'No those have to go on Watch The Throne," he explained, adding "so we spent four days arguing about those records and I was explaining to him why it wasn't right for this project, and I had a whole idea for making this album called Magna Carta... Holy Grail [part of] the name came after," said the Brooklyn rapper. "Four days, four days literally arguing... not like fighting," he revealed further. "Well, there was some pushing at one point but not between us, just everyone else got a little excited."

The Big Pimpin rapper would later record Holy Grail with Justin Timberlake and Oceans with singer Frank Ocean.

The Radio 1 interview was the first of four parts that will air throughout the week beginning Monday, July 15. Jay-Z slipped the secret feud story after he announced that he landed his first number one album in the UK during his performance at the Yahoo! Wireless Festival in London on Saturday.

"Number One in 59 countries and most importantly, my first in England," he told the crowd during his headline set at London's Wireless Festival

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the total number of album sales has not been revealed but Magna Carta Holy Grail bumped albums by Mumford & Sons, Rod Stewart and Michael Buble's from the top of the charts.
