Ashley Greene Replacing Anna Kendrick in Zach Braff’s 'Garden State' Movie Sequel, 'Wish I Was Here'
Ashley Greene will be replacing her Twilight co-star, Anna Kendrick, in Zach Braff's Wish I Was Here.
Braff made the decision himself on Tuesday night to the movie backers and sent an e-mail message indicating why Greene had to be replaced.
"We've tried our hardest, but we've been unable to figure out the lovely Anna Kendrick's scheduling conflicts with another movie she's doing," he wrote. "I've known Ashley for a couple years now, and I'm so excited she's accepted my invitation to join our Kickstarter Klub (sic)."
The 38-year-old NJ native didn't seem upset over the scheduling conflict because he had nothing but compliments about her. "Not only is Ashley gorgeous and charming, but she is hilarious, a very good actress and normal and cool, and we are so lucky to have her," he added.
Greene will be acting alongside Kate Hudson, The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parson, Joey King (White House Down) and another Scrubs star, Donald Faison.
Wish I Was Here, written by Braff and his brother, Adam, follows 35-year-old Aidan Bloon (Zach Braff) as he attempts to home-school his kids while struggling with his acting career and finding his identity. It is essentially the follow up to Garden State (2004).
In order to begin the indie project, Braff needed to raise $2 million. After working with Kickstarter.com, he reached his goal in May and raised over $3 million from backers who received advance screening and meet and greet passes among other prizes for donating.
"I've been a backer for several projects on Kickstarter and thought the concept was fascinating and revolutionary for artists and innovators of all kinds. But I didn't imagine it could work on larger-scale projects. I was wrong," Braff wrote.
The movie is set to begin filming in August in L.A. with a September 2014 release date.
