Blake Shelton explained to the Men's Journal why he's a little bit angry with fellow Voice judge/mentor Adam Levine.

"I get frustrated with Adam because, to me, rock stars are supposed to be drunk all the time. But he's very healthy," the country singer joked. "He takes care of himself. And it drives me crazy, because I want him to be more like me. Drunk all the time."

Shelton also told the magazine that he is the most content after he's a little buzzed.

The country crooner covers the August 2013 issue of the publication in a laid-back look, wearing jeans and blue buttoned-down shirt. He has been a judge on NBC's The Voice since it premiered in 2011. The 37-year-old also explained what he believes separates him from the other judges, including the Maroon 5 lead singer.

"Sometimes I think they don't know who all of us are in the middle," he told the magazine. "If there's one thing special about me, it's that I seem familiar. People feel like I live next door."

In season 4 of the singing competition, Shelton and Levine were joined by new judges Shakira and Usher. During the first three seasons, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green sat at the judging table. The original judges will return for season 5.

"I think we all had different reasons for either needing a season off or sticking around," Aguilera told Zap2it, cited in a July 17 report.

The Your Body singer explained that she needed some time to "regroup and center" herself, but is now ready to devote her time to help contestants at the start of their careers.

"I'm glad these guys were down to hold the original roots of the show together. It's like being reconnected with old family," she added about her return.

Green agreed with Aguilera, telling the magazine, "I missed everyone. I'm happy to be here."

Season 5 of The Voice premieres on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
