Sandra Bullock, George Clooney Movie 'Gravity' Trailer VIDEOS: New Clips Before October Release Date [WATCH]
Three new clips from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's sci-fi thriller Gravity were released this week.
Gravity features Bullock and Clooney as astronauts, who get detached from their spacecraft on a mission gone wrong. The film focuses on astronauts gradually running out of oxygen as they helplessly drift through space.
In the first clip, titled "Drifting," Ryan Stone (Bullock) spins out of control in her spacesuit while drifting through outer space. With a worried look on her face, she asks her radio, "Explorer, do you copy?" When no one answers, she says, "Houston, do you copy?"
She then explains her situation, saying, "I am off structure and I am drifting, do you copy?" When nobody answers her back, she pleads, "Anyone? Please help me."
In the next clip, titled "I've Got You," Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) tells Ryan "Ready, aim, fire." The pair of astronauts then launch toward a spacecraft, and he tells her that they're going to "hit hard." Matt and Ryan remain connected by a tube but it is soon broken, sending them in opposite directions through space.
"I've got you," Ryan tells him as she reaches a hand out to Matt.
Matt reaches back but his hand barely misses hers before flying backwards through space.
The third clip was released Tuesday. Titled "Detached," it features the beginning of an aborted mission in which Matt reports about floating debris. Ryan spins around while attached to a spacecraft, which gradually spins faster and faster. Matt commands Ryan to detach from the spacecraft. She resists at first but eventually gives in.
Early test screenings of Gravity have been overwhelmingly positive. One reviewer from The Film Experience proclaimed, "Gravity is [director Alfonso] Cuarón's masterpiece. It's gonna be divided. Half will think it's a self-indulgent borefest and half will think it's amazingly brilliant. The movie is 80 percent just Sandra Bullock!"
Another reviewer from Ain't It Cool News said that the film featured "the best special effects I have personally ever seen."
Gravity will be released in 3D and 2D on Oct. 4.
