Drake New Album 2013 UPDATE: 'Nothing Was The Same' Is 'Phenomenal,' Says Producer Detail
Drake's third studio album, Nothing Was The Same, has been deemed "phenomenal" by one of its producers.
Detail, who has worked with Lil' Wayne on several occasions, was recently in Canada collaborating with Drake on his forthcoming album.
"The album is amazing," he told XXL in a Tuesday report. "Vocally, what's he doing is amazing."
The producer also gushed about a specific song on the album, one that he did not even work on.
"He's got a song on his album that I wish I was there to play the hi-hats! Or I wish I was [there] to play the snare! I wish I was in there with a metronome! Somehow, I wish I was a part of that song. I still wish I was a part of that song. That's all I can say," he said.
While Detail didn't reveal too much else about the album, Drake confirmed via Twitter in May that it will feature Jhene Aiko. The two previously collaborated on the song July from his 2010 mix tape Something You Forgot.
The Canadian native also told Billboard in June that his upcoming album is in its final stages of production.
The third album will be the follow-up to 2011's Take Care. Drake's sophomore album peaked at No. 1 on Billboard, as did his debut album Thank Me Later in 2010. Take Care also won the Grammy for Best Rap Album at the 2013 award show and sold more than a million copies in the U.S. alone.
"This is my f--cking moment to say if I wanted to rap all the time, really rap, I would, but I also love to make music," he told GQ in July about the forthcoming album. "I'll do this for you right now. But it's for me, too. It's my story... I'm trying to get back to that kid in the basement. To say what he has to say. And I'm trying to make it last."
Nothing Was The Same hits retail on Sept. 17. Following the album's release, Drake will go on tour with singer Miguel and Future.
