'The Avengers 2' Movie News: Loki's Future, Kevin Feige Talks 'Age of Ultron' Title VIDEO
Now that the title, and main villain, for the next Avengers film have been announced, fans are wondering how the origin story of Ultron will play out and whether or not there is room for the evil, but much loved, Loki.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron may be a recent comic book series title, but Marvel Studios' President of Production Kevin Feige reveals that the script has been in the work for quite sometime and is only borrowing the series' name, not its plot.
"It's not that [run's] story, but it's that title. It's been in the works for seven or eight months," Feige told Empire. ""We came up with a few titles, but every month a new comic book appeared, and that's a great title. Age Of Ultron is a great title. We had a few other 'Of Ultrons', but that was the best one. So we're borrowing that title, but taking storylines from decades of Avengers comics."
The one part of Ultron's story they are defiantly not using is his origin at the hands of Hank Pym, also known as Ant-Man, writer/director Joss Whedon confirmed during a Comic-Con interview with Marvel.
Whedon also made a comment back in June stating that Loki would not be in the 2015 film. However, considering the reception Tom Hiddleston received as the trickster Asgardian at Comic-Con (see video below), Feige at least wants fans to believe Loki may make it through the events of Thor: The Dark World and continue causing mayhem in Age of Ultron or a Phase Three film.
"We think Loki could be the big bad for us, for a long time," Feige cryptically told Empire when asked of Loki's future.
