Miley Cyrus News: Documentary TV Special on MTV in the Fall Features 2013 Album Efforts
Singer/actress Miley Cyrus will get their own one-hour documentary airing in the fall on MTV, according to CBS News.
The announcement was made July 26 by MTV Programming President Susanne Daniels at the annual Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif. The documentary, as of yet untitled, will show cameras following the 20-year-old as she works on her new album due in stores later this year. The documentary also dives deep into the "transformation" Cyrus has experienced over the past few years from Disney star to a headline-grabbing musician, according to the MTV.
Similar documentaries that aired on the music network featured Lady Gaga, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Demi Lovato.
Her upcoming album will be Cyrus' first since 2010's Can't Be Tamed and her current single, We Can't Stop, is No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, according to the report. Cyrus said a director's cut of the We Can't Stop video will debut soon. Its original music video recently broke the VEVO record of 100 million views in 37 days.
"Like the song says, we can love who we want. I'm really free about the way I feel and who I am," Cyrus explained in June. "Of course, I want people to love my music, but it's like, at the end of the day I make music for me. I make music 'cause I love it and I know, like I said, I put good energy into it. I want to make this song the biggest song in the world."
Cyrus starred on the Disney Channel's series Hannah Montana for four seasons. Its finale aired in January 2011 and Cyrus had since acted in a number of movies (The Last Song, LOL and So Undercover) while making a name for herself also as a musician. She released a snippet of her song Wrecking Ball earlier in July, a single also off her upcoming album.
