DJ Khaled: 'I Was Serious' About Nick Minaj Proposal
DJ Khaled claims he was speaking from the heart when he proposed to rapper Nicki Minaj on MTV News Thursday.
"Nicki Minaj, I'm at MTV, I'm going to be honest with you; I love you. I like you, I want you, I want you to be mine," he said in the MTV video. "Only reason I'm not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you're busy."
He ended the video with, "Nicki Minaj, will you marry me?" and showed off a reported $500,000 10-carat ring.
While Minaj has yet to respond to the hip-hop star's proposal, Khlaed told Us Weekly at a July 26 screening for Rick Ross's Magic City, that he was dead serious when he proposed the American Idol host.
"I want to marry her! I was serious," he told said, adding that he hopes to hear from the former Pink Friday singer soon. "She can take her time and think about it. At least she knows how I feel now."
The same day as the screening, Khlaed posted a photo of Minaj from the Take It To The Head music video on Instagram with the caption "Beautiful."
Some fans on social media don't think the Hip Hop star is being as sincere as he says he is.
@john_da_kid tweeted, "This whole DJ Khaled marriage proposal thing gotta be one of the corniest publicity stunts of all time."
@jayelsCHILLIN tweeted, "IT'S OFFICIAL. DJ Khaled is the epitome of lame."
Khaled's upcoming album Suffering From Success is expected to be out by late September.
