Keyshia Cole Husband Daniel 'Boobie' Gibson Arrested: Ex-Cleveland Cavaliers Star Charged with Assault & Battery
Keyshia Cole's husband, NBA player Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, was arrested in New Orleans on Monday for assault and battery and was later released.
TMZ reported that Gibson turned himself in to authorities at the New Orleans Police Department in the city's 8th District on July 29.
After Gibson was charged with second-degree battery, he posted bond and was subsequently released from custody at approximately 11 a.m. EST.
The circumstances that lead to the arrest remain unclear, but TMZ reported there was an incident during the Essence Music Festival held on the Fourth of July weekend. An "alleged attack" took place and the person who blames Gibson for the incident remains unidentified.
Gibson issued a statement to TMZ about the arrest.
"Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife," he said. "It's unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved."
He also told the website that he is aware of his status as a role model and once all of the details regarding the incident are made public he will feel "fully vindicated."
Gibson is currently a free agent and played with the Cleveland Cavaliers for seven years.
Cole met Gibson when he was still with the team in 2009. They welcomed their first child, Daniel Hiram Gibson Jr., in March 2010.
They wed spontaneously in Last Vegas in May, 2011 and had a second wedding before family and friends on September, 2011. The planning for the ceremony and the actual wedding aired in Cole's six-episode reality show, Family First, on BET.
