Katy Perry on Monday used a gold truck to announce the name and release date for her third studio album.

A very long gold-plated truck drove through the streets of Los Angeles with black capital letters extended from the top to bottom announcing Perry's album: "Katy Perry. Prism. 10.22.2013" After the truck left her record label's building, Capitol Records, Perry tweeted, "Find the #PRISM semi, take a picture and I'll RT you. Don't worry, Los Angeles is just the first stop on the map."

Her famous friends did just that. Tarek Chamma tweeted, "um what is this big old gold thing outside my office @katyperry?" while singer Adam Lambert said, "Yes @katyperry this is crazy!! Love it!"

Finally, stylist Johnny Wujek wrote, "Wahoo. My girls new album is announced. PRISM. 10.22.13. Get ready to be enLIGHTened#you'reGonnaflip #everysongisaHit."

For Prism, the 28-year-old singer collaborated with Mad Martin, Dr.Luke and Greg Wells, many of the producers and songwriters behind her album Teenage Dream. She also wrote new songs with Sia and celebrity songwriter Bonnie McKee.

"When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that's when the race starts," Perry said at an expo in April. "That's when I put pressure on myself."

The album will feature the song Double Rainbow, which was written with McKee and Greg Kurstin. Sia, who sang Titanium with David Guetta, sings along with Perry on the track.

"I came in from a yoga class and said, 'I want to write a song called Double Rainbow.' So we have a song called Double Rainbow," Perry said.
