Nicki Minaj Responds to DJ Khaled Proposal: 'High School' Rapper Says it Was Publicity Stunt [AUDIO]
Nicki Minaj responded to DJ Khaled's marriage proposal when she appeared Monday on New York's Hot 97 radio station.
The rapper revealed that Khaled's proposal was part of a publicity stunt to promote his new album Suffering From Success and its first single I Wanna Be With You, which features Minaj, Future and Rick Ross.
Khaled's proposal video, which caused a frenzy online when it went viral last week, does provide some hints to its connection with the DJ's new album. He said in the footage, "We got the same symptoms, we're both suffering from success."
"It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record," Minaj told radio host Funkmaster Flex. "Nobody in my real life took it seriously. Everybody just hit me like, 'LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.' Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya'll."
Still, the 30-year-old admitted that she was surprised by Khaled's faux proposal.
"I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world 'cause Khaled is a master at what he does," Minaj said.

The Miami-based disc jockey kept up his act when he spoke to DJ Felli Fel of Los Angeles' Power 106 radio station on July 27.
"She might say yeah tonight or tomorrow, she might say yeah next year. What am I gonna do, give up? Never. I ain't never give up on nothing I do," DJ Khaled said.
On Monday he took the opportunity to thank Minaj for allowing him to have some fun in the promotion of his new album.
"Salute @NICKIMINAJ!!! ... Bringing the excitement back to the game!" he tweeted, following her interview.
