Jennifer Lopez apparently was denied being a guest star on The Voice finale in June and being a mentor for the show's contestants.

After offering to be a guest star, Page Six reported the answer to J.Lo. was "No thanks."

"She made a formal offer to be on the show," an insider revealed. "They said no to that."

In addition to appearing on the June 18th finale, Lopez wanted to be one of the mentors. But, again, the singer was rejected.

"She also submitted herself to have a recurring role," the source added. "When you submit yourself to be a performer, the show can see how [the fans] and ratings react to your episode. But, they said no to both."

An NBC rep spoke out to Page Six regarding J.L.o.'s appearance: "It was simply a matter of timing. The producers love Jennifer Lopez and tried to make it work, but due to the show's format it just didn't allow for another solo performance."

Singer Cher ended up performing on the finale and was supposedly "booked months in advance."

"There was only room left for someone to do duets [with the finalists]. But the genres were country and EDM [electronic dance music] - which did not seem like a natural pairing," another source added.

The Dance Again singer, who turned 44 last week, was part of the judges panel with Steven Tyler for American Idol season 10 and 11.

"You don't want to shut the door completely...But you know the time has come," Lopez said about leaving Idol. "I've enjoyed it so much, but I am thinking it's maybe time for me to go and do other things I really love to do like films...and performing."

The Voice is currently filming season 5 and is scheduled to premiere on September 23. Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green returned as mentors joining Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
