Tom Hiddleston may have made the most impressive entrance at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month but his Norse trickster may not be seeing any screen time in the upcoming Avengers sequel.

Apparently, Hiddleston doesn't regret the writer's decision.

In June writer/director Joss Whedon passed a comment insinuating that Hiddleston's Loki would not be featuring in 2015's The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Everyone is going to be looking for the Loki-Hulk smash moment and you'll be looking for 'quim,'" Whedon told Empire of his next Marvel Film. "No, first of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki's not there to say those terrible things."

When Empire then asked Hiddleston about the fate of his role, the British actor claimed it was probably for the best that Loki wouldn't be antagonizing the Avengers this time around.

I think it's great for the film that I'm not going to be in it. Because I'm so proud of the first one. Joss and I, there were so many things that we both love about it and in a way if I was in it we'd be chasing those moments, we'd be chasing that again," Hiddleston said, according to Empire. "The Avengers need a new bad guy to fight, they need new things to do.

While Loki plays a substantial role in Thor: The Dark World, Marvel Studios' President of Production Kevin Feige believes that Loki may find himself in a future film, whether it is in a Marvel Phase Three film or he somehow figures into the second Avengers.

"We think Loki could be the big bad for us, for a long time," Feige enigmatically told Empire at Comic-Con.
