How far would you go to get back your ex?

That's the premise of the new romantic comedy "I Want You Back," co-starring "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actor Charlie Day and "Parks and Recreation" alum Jenny Slate.

The Amazon Studios rom-com tells the story of two strangers who get dumped by their partners and join forces to try and win their former flames back.

AUDACY got the chance to sit down with Day, who plays Peter, and Slate, who stars as Emma, to discuss their portrayals of rejected lovebirds who "will do whatever it takes to put an end to their exes' new relationships and send them running back to their arms."

In the film, the duo's plan involves Peter befriending Emma's old flame Noah (Scott Eastwood), while Emma targets Anne (Gina Rodriguez), Peter's ex-girlfriend.

Despite the devious antics of their characters, Day and Slate both admitted they would take a different approach if they were jilted by their partners.

"At this point, you walk out on me and we're done, baby," Day said of a hypothetical break-up.

While Slate added, "Yeah, I can imagine myself being like, 'Are you are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?'"

In real life, Day is married to actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis, while Slate is wed to author Ben Shattuck.

"I Want You Back" also features a hilarious cameo by "Saturday Night Live" star Pete Davidson. In the film, Davidson helps coach Day's character as he experiments with substances at a party.

In AUDACY's interview, Day described the experience of working with Davidson.

"Pete and I got a little giddy shooting that scene because... it's a funny conversation and the dynamic between the two characters when it pops up is really so comedic and so absurd," Day said. "I loved working with Pete."

He added: "I was sad that I didn't have more scenes with Pete just because it was so easy to have that scene be funny, and I just I love that. I hope I get to work with him again."

As for his time on the long-running series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," Day shared whether or not co-star Danny DeVito ever offered him advice on romance.

"Well, fortunately for me, I've been in a relationship the entirety of the time that I've known Danny, so I have not been out there dating," Day said, before jokingly adding, "and I would not take any of his advice."

"I Want You Back" premieres February 11 on Amazon Prime Video.
