B.J. Novak's First Feature Film 'Vengeance' Set For A July Release By Focus Features
B.J. Novak's new dark comedy thriller Vengeance has been given a release date by the film's distributor Focus Features. Set to hit theaters on July 29th, this will be the first feature film to be directed by Novak, who has made a name for himself on television for years.
The film tells the story of Ben Manalowitz (Novak), a journalist/podcaster, who goes from New York to West Texas in order to find out how a girl he was in a relationship with died mysteriously.
Not the first time in the directing chair for Novak, The Office star, who also wrote the screenplay for Vengeance, has had past success on the small screen where he directed episodes of not only The Office but also The Mindi Project and The Premise. In terms of directing, he was once quoted as saying,
"Different people have different styles, but there is an opportunity as a director to be a writer in every moment, with every visual cue and every piece of production design. Everything is a decision, and everything can be obsessed over."
Given that he also penned the screenplay for Blumhouse, Vengeance looks to be a labor of love for the 42-year-old comedian, who also has a hand in writing several episodes of television.
The film has a great cast of familiar and funny actors, including Ashton Kutcher (That 70s Show), Issa Rae (Insecure), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Dove Cameron (Schmigadoon!), and J. Smith-Cameron (Succession).
As stated previously, Vengeance will release on July 29th. We will keep you posted once a trailer is available.
