Marvel's Superbowl Spot For New Disney+ Show 'Moon Knight' Features Oscar Isaac and Some Major 'Inception' Vibes
"I can't tell the difference between my waking life and dreams."
That's the phrase you hear from Oscar Isaac, over and over again, during the new trailer for Disney+'s upcoming MCU show Moon Knight. At first, he's explaining his experience as a sleeping disorder...but as the trailer goes on, he seems to become less and less confident that that's all that's going on. After all, his name is Steven, and midway through the trailer he gets a panicked call from a woman who seems pretty confident that his name is Mark.
Also featured in the trailer is some kind of shaman, (Ethan Hawke) or possibly a cult leader; he's shown in red dress with a crowd of people bowing down to him, but also, in a later clip, he tells Isaac: "There is chaos in you...embrace the chaos."
(It's not lost on us that his robes are red and he's talking about Chaos. Is he somehow linked to the Scarlet Witch? Time will tell.)
The chaos seems to be precisely what Isaac's character is fighting at first: One of the first things we see is his leg being chained to a bed, and later he wakes up and tries to bound away only to be stopped by the chain: Something in his dreams was telling him to wake up and RUN, and, based on the rest of the trailer, we'd guess that it's something more real than he thinks.
The character - apparently Steven or Mark, depending on who you ask - also spends the trailer being chased by a mummy-like figure who seems to appear and disappear at will - and at the end, we see him transformed into one himself, appearing to beat the living daylights out of the one that was following him.
(Seriously, reports have said that Moon Knight will not shy away from some pretty intense violence.)
This trailer is only a taste of what's to come, but it sure is an intriguing one. The six episode limited series Moon Knight comes to Disney+ on March 30th. Watch the trailer below:
