Selena Gomez earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart thanks to her album Stars Dance, which includes party anthems like Birthday and tunes inspired by her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Gomez bumped down Jay Z's Magna Carta...Holy Grail from the Billboard top spot with her Hollywood Records release, which sold 97,000 copies in its first week -- a career-high frame for the 21-year-old singer. Holy Grail went down to No. 2 with 77,000 (down 40 percent) after topping the list for two weeks. Gomez is also the youngest solo female artist to hit No. 1 since her friend Taylor Swift did so with 2010's Speak Now at the age of 20.

Gomez's 2009 debut album, Kiss and Tell, opened at No. 9 with nearly 66,000, according to Billboard. It was followed by the No. 4-ranking of A Year Without Rain in 2010, slightly exceeding 66,000, and then 2011's When the Sun Goes Down" launching at No. 4 with 78,000.

The lead single off of Stars Dance is Come & Get It, and the album includes the hits Slow Down and Love Will Remember.

Love and Remember begins with the audio of a voicemail Bieber left Gomez and the track chronicles the end of a relationship. She admitted to InStyle magazine, in its June issue, that the song was inspired by their breakup and she called it "the most personal track on the record, for sure."

"Hey babe it's me, I just wanted to call to tell you that, I love you so so so so much. Just wanted to let you know that you are my princess, you are worthy of all of the love in the world. You are the love of my life," Bieber says in the voicemail.

In an hour-long live stream where she talked to fans that same month, she gave a detailed, track-by-track explanation of the new album while hinting that her relationship with Bieber inspired the record

She said that Save The Day is about "moments where you don't ever want them to end." She said she has experienced those moments herself, "never wanting it to go away." Once is it best to say end a relationship, she said about the track Forget Forever, "that is like my anthem."
